In this cooking tutorial, we will explain the butter chicken recipe to cook at home in easy steps.
Butter chicken is one of my favorite and every non-veg person like it. We will show the steps/method you can easily make it at home. It is also called as murgh makhani, where Murg means Chicken and Makhani means buttery (creamy).
Ingredients Required For Butter Chicken Recipe
Chicken marinade steps:
1 lb. boneless chicken, cut into small cubes (1-inch size)
tandoori masala 2 tablespoons
1 teaspoon EACH: ginger paste and garlic paste
½ cup yogurt
1 tablespoon oil
Butter Chicken Sauce Steps:
2 tablespoons ghee (clarified butter)
1 large onion, thinly sliced
1 ½ teaspoon EACH: ginger paste and garlic paste
1 (14.5 ounces) can crushed tomatoes
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 1/2 tablespoon coriander powder
1 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
1/2 teaspoon garam masala
¼ teaspoon dried fenugreek leaves
– Marinade the chicken for 30 mins at least or 1hr max.
– When ready to cook, first prepare the sauce by adding all ingredients. Then blend them to get silky smooth consistency. Cook chicken and combine the two. Finish off with dried fenugreek leaves and enjoy over rice or naan.
Butter chicken recipe Steps
Steps 1: Take a pan and add butter on medium-high heat, brown the pieces of the chicken on each side, don’t cook it fully.
Steps 2: Take another pan to add butter in the pan over medium heat and when it gets little heat to add onion and cook until beginning to brown/soften for 2-3mins.
Steps 3: Add garlic, garam masala, ginger, cumin and chili powder. Mix it and cook for 45-50secs.
Steps 4: Add crushed tomatoes and mix for 5-6mins on medium heat and then add chicken and cook for 15-20mins on low heat.
Steps 5: Add butter with salt and pepper as per taste
butter chicken recipe is ready you can enjoy with rice and naan.
